A car accident can occur anytime but there are many do’s and don’ts that must be kept in mind if a person is involved in a car accident even if they are not injured. One can get advantage by consulting a personal injury lawyer if they are involved in personal injury litigation stemming from a car accident.

    Stay at the accident spot

If an accident occurs in which you suffer injuries or the accident causes property damage, staying at the accident spot is necessary until the police tell you that you can go home. Leaving the accident spot can result in driver’s license sanctions and you can also be charged when the law requires a person to wait for the police.

    Help the injured person

If someone is injured in an accident and a person is present there who is trained in administering first aid, then that person can help the injured person. However, care should be taken not to move the injured person from one place to another. The matter should also be reported to the police. The person who calls the police must tell the officer that individuals are injured and should also tell the number of individuals if there are more, so that enough emergency personnel respond to the scene. If it is night time, then people present at the accident scene should turn their flashers on to make the traffic aware of the accident.

    Get the related information

If an accident occurs, the person involved in the accident should get all the information given below:

    • Name, address, driver’s license number, insurance information, and license plate number of the other driver.

    • Name, address, and telephone number of individuals who were present there when the accident happened and who saw it with their own eyes.

    • One should ask the police officers who are investigating the incident to provide you with a business card with the incident number, so that you can get an accident report.

    • You may also want to note down information about how the accident happened, like the direction of vehicles in which they were travelling when the accident happened and what the vehicles were doing when the collision happened.

Do not admit to any mistake

A person should not accept his/her mistake even if they think that the accident occurred due to their mistake because there are many hidden facts that can prove that the other driver was at fault.

Do not talk to any other individual present at the accident spot other than the police

One should only tell facts related to the accident to the police officers so that they can draw their own conclusion from the facts.

Consult a doctor and get medical care

The person involved in the accident should consult a doctor and tell if they are facing any health issues or having problems after the accident like loss of memory, headache, blood or fluid in ear, dizziness, or an unusual physical or mental feeling. It is good to take medical care because there are many problems that can occur as a result of the accident but are hidden.

Interstate 70 had to be closed down for several hours following a fatal crash in Glenwood Canyon, according to CBS Denver. In a section of the highway that was reduced to one lane in each direction with no median because of road construction, a car crossed the center line and crashed head-on into an oncoming semi truck. The woman driving the car was killed, and her three passengers, a man, a woman, and a child, were taken to Vail Valley Medical Center. The child was subsequently airlifted to Denver. The truck driver suffered minor injuries, and did not go to the hospital. The road was closed for several hours, in part because about 100 gallons of fuel from the semi leaked onto the roadway.

The nature of the injuries to the passengers in this incident was not released. However, it is common in accidents like this for people to receive very serious injuries such as injury to the spinal cord. An injury to the spinal cord can result in permanent disability, and the need for ongoing medical care for the rest of the victim’s life. The medical bills will mount very quickly, and the insurance company that is responsible may try to avoid paying them. Insurance companies operate to make a profit, but when that profit comes by violating the policy that the company sold, and the consumer paid for, this is known as bad faith. There is nothing wrong with an insurance company making a profit, but if your insurance company is operating in bad faith, you may be able to take action.

Speak with an experienced Greeley insurance bad faith lawyer today to discuss your options if your the insurance company is refusing to handle your medical bills after an accident. Sometimes, a letter or a few phone calls from an experienced Denver insurance dispute attorney may be enough to make the insurance company do the right thing. The news article did not discuss the reason for the older man crossing the center line, and there are many reasons why this might happen. As tragic as this accident is, when a driver crosses the center line, these crashes are usually preventable. While the cause is sometimes an outside obstacle such as wildlife in the road, it is often drugs or alcohol, fatigue, distraction, or some other negligent behavior. When the irresponsible actions of one driver cause serious injury or death to someone else, that person, or in some cases, their family, may be liable for the damages sustained.

  • According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, car accidents are the leading cause of death of children aged 12 and under. It is extremely important that children are properly restrained in an appropriate safety seat every single time they get in the car. Knowing which seat is the right one, and how to use it properly, is not always easy, however. Here are some tips on picking and using a safety seat for your child.

    • Read the Manufacturer’s Recommendations

When you are looking at child safety seats at the store or online, look at the height and weight recommendations. They will give a minimum and maximum height as well as a minimum and maximum weight for the seat. As general rule, it is wise to keep your child in the seat that provides the most protection for as long as possible. However, if your child gets to be too tall or too heavy for the seat that they are in, their safety may be compromised, and it is time for a different seat.

    • Check Your Vehicle Owner’s Manual for Installation

Your car or truck’s owner’s manual gives the location and proper use of anchor points and how to lock seat belts. A child safety seat can be safely installed using anchors and tether OR seat belt, but each vehicle is different. Make sure that you know exactly how to safely install the child safety seat in your vehicle.

    • Your Children Should Always Sit in the Back Seat

Even after your child is too big for a booster seat, he or she is still safest in the back seat. At least until the age of 12, it is a good idea to have your child ride in the back. They should sit in a booster seat until they are big enough for the seat belt to sit across the thighs and chest without the booster. Even then, however, your child is still safer in the back seat.

Contact the experienced Denver auto accident attorneys at the Gold Law Firm today if your child has been injured in a car accident. • The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) provide an excellent source of information on a significant problem across the United States: drunk driving. Data from the CDC shows that about 1/3 of all people killed in motor vehicle accidents nationwide die in drunk driving accidents. With over 10,000 drunk driving fatalities every year, that is roughly 30 people every day on average. Perhaps the worst part of this sad statistic is that over 200 of these people, in 2010, were children aged 14 or under. Many of these children were riding in the car with the drunk driver. Over a million people are arrested for DUI each year, but based on self-reporting in polls, this is a tiny fraction of the people who actually drive drunk, which the CDC estimates at 112 million instances of drunk driving every year. That is well over 300,000 instances of drunk driving every single day.

If your family has been hurt by a drunk driver, contact a dedicated Denver drunk driving accident attorney immediately to protect your rights.

Everyone in the United states who is legally old enough to drive should know that driving drunk is dangerous. Everyone should know that driving while “buzzed” is still drunk driving. Most people will tell anyone who asks that drunk driving is wrong, and yet 300,000 times per day, someone gets behind the wheel after drinking too much. As a result, the drunk driving criminal charges are very severe. In many cases, these may be people who think they can “handle their liquor.” But regardless, research shows that even relatively small amounts of alcohol make driving extremely dangerous, not just to the driver, but to others as well. Most people have seen news reports about drunk drivers driving into buildings, or knocking down power lines, or other unpredictable results that create danger for many people.

If you or a loved one have been seriously injured in a drunk driving accident, contact a dedicated Denver drunk driving accident attorney today. While the drunk driver may face criminal charges in Denver, that does not help you pay for the medical bills, property damage, funeral expense, or lost wages that the drunk driver may cause. No one should face financial ruin on top of physical injury or worse because of the negligence of one person who decided to get behind the wheel after drinking. For more information, contact a personal injury attorney in your area today.
